The volunteers would attend on those days/times that our Cable Car Building is open to the public, at the moment this is 12-3 pm Sundays They assist the Lead Volunteer from our Society. The role is to welcome visitors, to show them the cable cars we have on site, to invite them on board the cable car trailer, and to explain to visitors our aim to bring the cable cars back into service. Those of mechanical bent could explain the workings of the cable cars to interested visitors.
We invite volunteers to read the material on our website, www.dunedincablecars.co.nz, in order to become familiar with the aims and history of the project. We also have a Facebook contact, www.facebook.com/MorningtonCableCars
Otherwise, training is on site, by observing how our Lead staff deal with the public, and volunteers then becoming more involved as they become familiar with the process.
Lead volunteers open our site from midday to 3 on weekends. One of our group phones or emails around the week prior, to see who is available. www.dunedincablecars.co.nz/volunteer.html
A volunteer is generally encouraged to be on duty once every 2 months; of course you can volunteer more often if you wish.
The first step is to express your interest by filling out the form below. We will then put you in touch directly with the organisation for more information on the role and how to proceed.
