The volunteers would attend on those days/times that our Cable Car Building is open to the public, and would assist the Lead Volunteer from our Society. The role is to welcome visitors, to show them the cable cars we have on site, to invite them on board the cable car trailer, and to explain to visitors our aim to bring the cable cars back into service. Those of mechanical bent could explain the workings of the cable cars to interested visitors.

Requirements

Friendly personality, to deal with the public.

An informed intelligence, and a willingness to learn about the cable car history Mechanical knowledge an advantage, but not necessary.

Tidy casual. We provide badges saying "Cable Car Team"

We invite volunteers to read the material on our website, www.dunedincablecars.co.nz, in order to become familiar with the aims and history of the project. We also have a Facebook contact, www.facebook.com/MorningtonCableCars

Otherwise, training is on site, by observing how our Lead staff deal with the public, and volunteers then becoming more involved as they become familiar with the process.

Time commitment

Lead volunteers open our site from midday to 3 on weekends . One of our group phones or emails around the week prior, to see who is available. www.dunedincablecars.co.nz/volunteer.html
