Are You OK? 2025 Team - OUSA

Are You OK? is a group of dedicated student volunteers committed to promoting the safety and well-being—both physical and mental—of students at OUSA events such as Orientation, Hyde Street Party, and music gigs throughout the year.

They aim to ensure every student has an amazing time, free from any negative experiences. The team offers non-judgmental, approachable, and friendly support when it’s needed most. Whether it’s helping someone who’s had too much to drink, providing basic first aid, offering a quiet space to chill, or organizing a safe ride home, their volunteers ensure everyone has a safe, enjoyable experience.

Volunteer Services Include:

  • Providing basic first aid.
  • Caring for students who’ve had too much to drink.
  • Offering a listening ear.
  • Creating quiet spaces for overwhelmed students.

Full Training Provided:

  • Active listening and communication (emotional support).
  • Caring for people under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
  • Bystander intervention techniques.
  • Basic first aid.

Requirements

  • Otago University Student
  • A kind and generous person.
  • Full drivers licence preferred.
  • First aid certificate and other training.

Time commitment

Commitment would be agreed upon at time of application.
