Sea Shepherd New Zealand is a non-profit conservation organisation whose mission is to end the destruction of habitat and slaughter of wildlife in the world’s oceans in order to conserve and protect ecosystems and species. leaving the beach as clean as possible
In Queenstown they work on Queenstown Bay Beach, Gardens and surrounding water area's to keep them clean and free from waste. The key area they need support with is the Queenstown monthly beach clean which is supported by the QLDC. They hope that interested volunteers understand the affects that trash has on the environment and water ways.
Volunteers give a social few hours and gain satisfaction from knowing they've done their bit to help the local environment. No need to sign up officially - just rock up and meet other volunteers on the last Sunday of every month at 10am - Memorial Arch on the beach front and enjoy! Gloves and rubbish bags are provided.
A willingness to muck in and clear up the beach whilst meeting like minded people.
Just a few hours a month - volunteers meet at 10am at Memorial Arch on Marine Parade on the last Sunday of every month. Everyone mucks in and picks up rubbish from the beach leaving it as clean as possible at the end of the session.

Volunteer South's office is closed from Friday 20th December until Monday January 6th. Many organisations listing roles online will also be taking a break. During this time your requests to connect will go through, however there may be some delay in you hearing from the organisations you select. Please be patient and if you have not heard back from them by mid January email them directly and give them a nudge. Thank you and have a wonderful holiday season and summer.
