Pink Ribbon Street Appeal Area Coordinator - Dunedin, Mosgiel, Queenstown, Invercargill

Breast Cancer Foundation NZ's mission is to prevent New Zealanders developing and dying of breast cancer and support patients. They do this through raising awareness for early detection; funding medical research, training and equipment; supporting patients with their helpline, counselling and rehabilitation; and advocating to the government for world-class treatments and care.

Breast Cancer Foundation NZ are seeking fantastic Area Coordinators in your local town/suburb for the Pink Ribbon Street Appeal!

As Area Coordinator you will be:

  • Overseeing multiple sites within your town
  • Managing a team of volunteers to collect funds for BCFNZ on Friday 18th and/or Saturday 19th October 2024

How it works!

Before the appeal:

  • You will receive an in-depth briefing on how to carry out your role
  • Everything you need to run the appeal in your area will be provided
(Buckets, sashes, pink ribbons, security seals and banking information (plus some chocolate for your volunteers!) will be sent to you)
  • Distribute the stock to your volunteers in the lead up to the appeal as needed
  • Get in touch with your volunteers to introduce yourself before the appeal day

During the appeal:

  • Make sure all of your volunteers have everything they need on the day(s) of the appeal
  • Use a volunteer roster system to keep track of shifts
  • Drop off and collect buckets and money before and after each shift
  • Visit sites regularly throughout the day, checking on volunteers, stock and buckets
  • Manage the money raised throughout the day
(All of the money raised needs to be taken to your nearest ASB branch as soon as possible)

After the appeal:

  • All remaining stock and buckets sent back to the Breast Cancer Foundation NZ - you will be supported with this

Through this role you will gain an understanding of the importance of the services BCFNZ provide the community. Not only will you gain experience in people and time management, banking and the working of a large scale appeal, you will also be contributing to a great cause. You will also enjoy working with a group of wonderful volunteers, who are equally passionate about fighting against breast cancer.

Requirements

  • Enthusiasm and passion for the work done by Breast Cancer Foundation NZ
  • Great communication skills
  • Able to follow instructions independently
  • Some experience with people management
  • Trustworthy and reliable
  • Driver’s licence and access to a car

A Ministry of Justice background check is required for this role.
