Aspiring Athletes vision is to inspire the community to become active and achieve in athletics. They aim to be inclusive, supportive, positive, encouraging and fun, offering the best possible experiences for athletes ranging from 5 years old, with the basics in running, jumping and throwing; to high school students wanting to take their skills to a new level; right through to the those looking to be active in recreational events or striving for excellence and awards.
The club’s training night is on Thursday afternoons on the Wanaka Recreational Centre grounds in the summer terms. Programmes are designed appropriately to age and the needs expressed by members on their registration forms.
They are currently seeking a fundraising & sponsorship coordinator to join their committee. The role is directly responsible to the Treasurer and or President and the members of the club.
Responsibilities and Duties include:
• Determine what purpose the funds are being raised for.
• Develop a project budget
• Develop a fundraising plan.
• Identify potential source of funds e.g. sponsorship, grants etc.
• Write the grant application or sponsorship proposal.
• Ensure the acquired funds are being used for the designated purpose.
• Maintain relationships with donors, grant agencies and sponsors.
• Submit regular reports to the club committee.
• Develop an annual plan for grant funding (that aligns with the strategic plan)
The club is run by the community for the community and relies on a team of volunteers at all levels to ensure success and longevity so your contribution would be invaluable knowing you are helping the community.
• Can communicate effectively.
• Is well organised.
• Has a high level of attention to detail.
• Ideally, experience in marketing or sponsorship would be an advantage.
A Police background check is required for this role.
The estimated time commitment required as the Fundraising and Sponsorship Coordinator is 4 hours per week.
