South Alive (South Invercargill Urban Rejuvenation Charitable Trust)
South Alive's mission statement: Empowered by our Strengths as a community, we will build a place to live and work that engenders pride and inspires us. South Alive run a number of projects and events and have specific action teams with volunteers working on 'beautification, fruit and nut orchards, housing and events".
Helping out with the Fruit and Nut team working bees usually involves:
They are also a pretty social bunch too so usually you would enjoy a cuppa afterwards.
South Alive can provide some education and guidance around what to do, so you don't need to be a plant or gardening expert. They are just looking for people who are physically able and willing to help.
You must wear appropriate clothing and footwear and preferably have your own transport to get to the working bees.
If you have some gardening tools you can bring along too that would be helpful but not essential.
Usually 1-2 hours at a time.
Working bees are held during the week or on weekends, and are planned at short notice (due to being weather dependent).
The first step is to express your interest by filling out the form below. We will then put you in touch directly with the organisation for more information on the role and how to proceed.

Volunteer South's office is closed from Friday 20th December until Monday January 6th. Many organisations listing roles online will also be taking a break. During this time your requests to connect will go through, however there may be some delay in you hearing from the organisations you select. Please be patient and if you have not heard back from them by mid January email them directly and give them a nudge. Thank you and have a wonderful holiday season and summer.
