Ōtepoti Dunedin Whānau Refuge envisions a community where all whānau live free from family violence. To help us achieve this, we are looking for a professional, experienced, and passionate Fundraising Administrator to join our dedicated team.

This pivotal volunteer role will focus on securing funding to ensure wāhine, tamariki, and rangatahi experiencing violence receive the support they need, when they need it. The ideal candidate will be confident, strategic, and bring a relationship-based approach to fundraising grounded in the value of whanaungatanga. 💼📝📊🤝

You’ll play a key part in identifying and managing donor relationships, crafting compelling cases for support, and driving fundraising initiatives aligned with our kaupapa.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and engage potential donors and funding sources
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships aligned with our kaupapa and campaigns
  • Coordinate and support the annual street appeal
  • Write and manage grant applications, reports, and donor communications
  • Develop and implement strategic fundraising approaches

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Proven experience in fundraising, philanthropy, or community engagement
  • A successful track record of delivering results against deadlines and targets
  • Strong relationship-building and networking skills
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to design impactful fundraising programmes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail in budgeting, reporting, and compliance
  • Confidence to represent the service across diverse spaces
  • Integrity, professionalism, and alignment with ethical engagement practices
  • A collaborative, flexible approach and positive outlook
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • An understanding of or connection to kaupapa Māori is highly valued

Requirements

Qualifications/Experience 💼📝📊🤝

  • Fundraising experience with demonstrated success
  • Proven track record of delivering against agreed targets and deadlines
  • Highly developed communications skills, both written and verbal
  • Own computer, phone and internet access
  • Meetings from home or at various agreed locations as required
  • Volunteers must complete Police Vetting

A Police background check is required for this role.
