Gardening Companion

Bainfield Gardens Limited

Working Hours

Bainfield Gardens are looking for volunteers who have diverse life skills, which they could use to support people who struggle with mental health. They are making a place where people can come to heal - learning base skills through gardening in a culture of encouragement and support.

If you would enjoy giving back to the community and bringing enjoyment into people's lives to help them find a sense of purpose, Bainfield Gardens could be the place for you!

Volunteers are needed to help in areas such as working in the gardens, planting, cultivating and encouraging clients. The ideal volunteer will be keen to develop their skills and will enjoy helping people progress towards better wellbeing.

You might have a passion for:

  • gardening
  • teaching life skills
  • taking the lead
  • giving tasks
  • working with a site manager

Practical skills would be immensely helpful - particularly mechanical or construction. But there are loads of ways to help - a batch of scones for morning tea would be hugely appreciated!

Ideally you will have some knowledge of gardening and be able to tell a weed from a plant - but this can be taught, and the most important thing is willingness and enthusiasm to learn.

Time commitment

Anytime Monday - Friday 9am - 2pm - the manager will work with you to fit the volunteering around what suits you. You could come for the whole day or an hour here and there.
