IT Supporter


Land Search and Rescue







Your work will support rescue efforts by ensuring that our technology is kept current, connected and charged. No search and rescue background or experience is necessary, but if you want to get involved with supporting search and rescue operations you can. You will have the opportunity to work with and learn about specialised rescue equipment and devices. You can support the group, when and as you want. Being an outdoors enthusiast is not a requirement- we have team members who are equally at home behind a desk, managing our operations room.

Duties include:

  • Administering Microsoft 365 and Sharepoint
  • Operating D4H, SARTopo and Volunteer Rescue
  • Assist with training new volunteers to use our systems
  • Create troubleshooting guides for simpler problems for the team
  • Integrating systems if required, as technology needs evolve
  • Maintain all our IT equipment in excellent working condition (laptops, tablets, radios, sat phones, Garmin)
  • Training is provided on the more specialised devices



We are looking for people who:

  • Are process driven
  • Have great attention to detail
  • Proficient in all systems listed above
  • Available to support at short notice, at any time of day in the event of IT failure

There will be someone else doing the same role as well, so we have more than one person to call on at short notice.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment

2-3 hours per month. For the most part, you will be able to choose when you want to volunteer. You can maintain the systems at any point during the day or week. However, at times, we may need to call upon you to solve an issue at short notice – but we are pretty good at solving most problems ourselves.
