Wheels at Wanaka is an all vehicle, all machinery history-in-motion vintage fair - including steam engines, tractors and farming heritage, cars, motor-bikes, trucks, earth-movers and heavy machinery. Buzzing with energy, the event has over 50 acres of entertainment including: tractor pulling and Enduro-X competitions, ATV and rally car demos, an earthmoving extravaganza and a non-stop parade ground programme - a weekend is barely enough to see everything!

You are key to making this event run smoothly. You don’t need to be into cars or machines - if you're welcoming, helpful, friendly, energetic and love being part of a large, exciting, local event- they'd love to have you on the team!

WHAT YOU'LL GET

  • Each volunteer will receive a Wheels at Wanaka T-shirt or cap and a 3-day pass to the show.
  • They’ll also provide you with shelter, food and drink whilst you’re onsite.
  • You'll get safety and how-to briefings and training where your role requires.
  • Thank you Pizza evening on Sunday in the Tractor Shed
  • Free camping arrangements if required- please specify if you need this

Ways to help:
Set Up and Pack down eg. set up Information Deskshelp place chairs, tables out on site and hay bales as indicated, put up signage as needed, fill in bunny holes, monitoring social media, help set up community tents, and much more.

Show Day operations Information Desk, Ticketing, Merchandise Stand, Ushering/Directing guests, and much more.

Requirements

  • All volunteers 16yo and over are welcome
  • Under 16s are also welcome, but they must be accompanied and supervised by an adult
  • When signing up you can indicate which roles you like
  • For some roles you need to have a certain level of fitness and be able to walk a minimum of 200m.

Time commitment

Dates:

  • Set Up : Monday 14, Tuesday 15, Wednesday 16, Thursday 17 & Friday 18 April (Good Friday)
  • Terra Cat Earthmoving PRACTISE DEMO DAY, Friday 18 April
  • Main Show incl Parade Ground & Earthmoving Show, Saturday 19 April and Sunday 20 April (Easter Sunday)
  • Pack Down : Monday 21 April (Easter Monday) & Tuesday 22 April

Times:

  • Shifts can be 2-6 hrs.
  • Min 4 hrs per day
  • Min 2 days volunteering (3 days would be ideal)
