Whānau Āwhina Plunket is a charity and Aotearoa’s largest support service for the health and wellbeing of tamariki under-five and their whānau. Everything they do is to support Kiwi whānau and their tamariki to thrive.

QLDC Teddy Bears Picnic held at the Wanaka Recreation Centre raises vital funds and all proceeds benefit the local Upper Clutha Plunket, enabling services to continue within the community.

Help out and have a heap of fun as you support this unique fundraising event!

  • Work within a team of volunteers to help collect donations
  • Help out with activities at the Plunket stand
  • Ensure that people are safe and reporting to event staff if there are any concerns
  • Ensure that children are playing
  • Meet new people and enjoy the event
  • Interact with the local community of families in a new way
  • Water will be available, but bring your own bottle
  • Outdoor/ indoor event so please wear sunscreen and a hat
  • Parking will be available, but you will need to make your own way there

You will be given a training and health and safety briefing before your shift.

Requirements

Represent Whānau Āwhina Plunket in the community by:

  • Engaging in a friendly manner with members of the public
  • Being honest, trustworthy, and approachable
  • Showing genuine interest in families and children's well-being

Experience in childcare not necessary, just a genuine interest in helping out!

Time commitment

Arrive at 10:30am for briefing
Shift: 3 hours (11am - 2pm)
