Driver for Meals on Wheels - Mosgiel (Tuesdays and Thursdays)

St. Barnabas provides nutritious hot meals made on site each day and brings them to Mosgiel to then be delivered to their clients in the area.
There is an opportunity open to become a valued part of the Meals on Wheels delivery team in your community.

They are looking for a volunteer driver who are available to cover a meal run every 2nd Tuesday and Thursday, or available on call. As a driver you will:

• Deliver to various locations in the area in your own vehicle
• Politely greet clients and deliver the meals
• There is no need to notify after delivery is complete, unless the resident isn't home

A basic induction/orientation is provided. The volunteer manager is able to show/accompany drivers in the first instance if necessary.

Your contribution of 40 minutes once a week, or 40 minutes once a fortnight, or even as a casual on call driver, can make a huge difference to the Meals on Wheels service and most importantly, to the lives of those receiving meals. The service simply could not exist without volunteer help and donations.

Requirements

• Have your own roadworthy vehicle
• Clean full driver's license
• Have a genuine interest in working with the elderly
• A reasonable knowledge of the Mosgiel suburbs

Time commitment

• Every 2nd Tuesday and Thursday, driver/s needed in Mosgiel
• 40 minutes once a week, fortnight, or as a casual driver on call as suits your availability
• Their Saturday meal numbers are also growing, if you are interested in acting as an on-call/casual driver, they would also like to hear from you
