The Youth Search & Rescue (YSAR) Trust's mission is to train and prepare the next generation of Search and Rescue and Emergency Management practitioners. They focus on skill development, community service principles, and authentic outdoor education!

YSAR are looking for people with relative leadership, outdoor education, or emergency response experience (such as FENZ, Police, Emergency Management, St. Johns, Emergency Radio, Surf Lifesaving, Land Search and Rescue, Coastguard).

If you have skills in administration, they are also looking for people who are keen to be involved with the operations committee who take on a lot of the background logistical work to ensure the branch can operate smoothly!

You can get involved with the established branch in Dunedin, or if you're from another area where there isn't a branch yet, you can contact them to talk about setting up a branch in your area. New branches will require a Branch Manager and a minimum of three instructors for viability.

Requirements

  • Drivers licence (Full)
  • NZ Police Vetting

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment

  • Wednesday nights - 1.5 hours during first 3 school terms
  • 7 weekend training exercises throughout the year
