Presbyterian Support volunteers provide regular, ongoing contact and good company for people living alone, often providing a link to the community for those who are confined to their house. Social engagement and meaningful activity are essential to a healthy, happy life, no matter what your age is. Volunteers are needed who can visit people living in their own homes in Mosgiel (Gordon Road).

As an Enliven Visiting Volunteer you will be:

  • Visiting older people in their homes for a chat over a cup of tea
  • Playing a game of cards or scrabble
  • Providing regular, ongoing contact and good company for people living alone
  • Providing a link to the community for those who are confined to the house
  • The Visiting Volunteer Coordinator will match clients with a suitable volunteer - re interests/fit

Training provided:

  • All volunteers will receive appropriate training and supervision for their role
  • As you will be stepping into the 'Home' of an elderly person, Enliven take great care in choosing their volunteers

Requirements

  • All volunteers must complete a Police Check
  • All volunteers will be required to sign a Code of Conduct
  • A car would be beneficial but not a requirement
  • Volunteers need to have good balance, vision and hearing, and able to walk up to and around the home
  • Volunteers need to be able to get to and from their visits in their own car or use other transport
  • Someone who is friendly, reliable, trustworthy and has good communication skills
  • Someone who has a natural interest in older people, patient, caring and respectful attitude

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment

  • Commitment: 1 hours per week or fortnight.
  • When: Monday - Sunday at a time that suits you and the person you will visit
