The Gasworks Market is a new Community Market, supported by Dream South D Trust, and is based at the Gasworks Museum in South Dunedin. The market values are: Community, Sustainability and Resilience, with a focus on providing space for local growers and crafters to sell their wares. Furthermore, the market provides opportunities for Community Groups to fundraise and has future plans to introduce a free Repair Café. There has been significant interest from the community, with attendance from the first three markets totalling almost two thousand people.
The market has been supported thus far by a collaboration with other community groups and is now in need of Committee Members to help drive the market forward.
As a Gasworks Market Committee Member you will be:
- Needed to help manage stall bookings
- Assist with promoting/advertising the markets
- Applying for Community Grants
- Helping to establish a Repair Café
- Part of a strong committee that will ensure the Market remains sustainable and secure as a permanent feature of the South Dunedin community

- Orientation concerning the Community Market's operations and values
- The opportunity to further develop your governance and fundraising skills

Requirements
This role would suit someone who:
- Is well organised
- Enjoys working in a team and in the community
- Is confident using Google Drive
- Has experience with either writing funding applications and/or working with community groups or organising markets
Time commitment
- The Markets run once per month on average
- The time commitment is approximately ten hours per month
(This time is made up of attending the Market, attending committee meetings and doing tasks outside of the meetings and Market)
- Typically the markets run on Saturday afternoons or evenings
- The Committee Meetings area held on a weekday afternoon
(You will need to be available to attend these, but will have flexibility to complete other tasks when it suits you)
- Minimum 1 year commitment preferred
