Aroha Kaikorai Valley is a new conservation trust that has been set up to improve the local community environment. They’re specifically focussed on removing predators and weeds, planting native trees, and improving the water quality of the Kaikorai Stream. The Board need a volunteer Treasurer to join the team. They have grown and now need to allocate this role to someone with accounts and payroll experience who has a passion for details and records.

As the Treasurer for Aroha Kaikorai you will be:

  • Responsible for running payroll
  • Using your knowledge and experience of Xero and Online Banking
  • Making payments
  • Reconciling accounts
  • Submitting relevant compliance and reporting documents in accordance with legislative requirements
  • Attending the annual AGM

There are not a lot of transactions per month at this stage but the numbers are growing steadily.

Training/Skills Gained:

  • A full orientation will be provided by Aroha Kaikorai Valley team members
  • You’ll be working independently but support will be available from Aroha Kaikorai Valley
  • This role provides an opportunity to further your governance skills and to learn how to best support the trust

Requirements

Experience with the following:

  • Honest and reliable
  • Knowledge and use of Xero accounting platform
  • Microsoft office software experience
  • Reporting experience

A Ministry of Justice background check is required for this role.

Time commitment

  • Two hours every two weeks
  • Must be flexible due to seasonal reporting
  • Ideally 1 + years minimum commitment
