Grow Wānaka is a circular model community garden project working towards a more food secure, resilient and waste free community, while providing education, and community connection through collective growing, learning and sharing of ideas, knowledge and skills.

They engage the community through collaborative educational workshops and events such as shared kai lunches, garden fundraisers and festivals. As Workshop and Events Coordinator you will work alongside other volunteers and team members as well as independently to help them execute these projects.

The role includes:

  • Maintaining a workshop and events database.
  • Managing a budget.
  • Sourcing equipment for events.
  • Facilitating the running of events.
  • Creating posters in Canva.
  • Uploading events photos and promotional collateral to google drive.
  • Distribution of advertising materials.

You will have lots of creative freedom and space to express yourself in your work and have a supportive and collaborative team to bring new event ideas and plans to fruition. This is a new role, so you can play a part in co-creating how it moves forward with the team. You will be supported in the role by their passionate team.

Requirements

  • Good organisation and time management skills
  • Good communication and relationship building skills
  • Ability for self-directed independent work as well as collaborative teamwork
  • Creative thinking about community engagement
  • Self-motivation and passion for the advancement of local regenerative projects
  • Knowledge of google drive & Canva

Time commitment

  • 4 to 6 hours per month
  • 1 team meeting per month for catching up and planning.
