St Andrew's Anglican Church with funding from Central Lakes Trust provides aged-care support in the Cromwell Community. Their key goals are to support the two Cromwell rest homes in giving pastoral, emotional and where appropriate spiritual care; visit any isolated and lonely folk in the Cromwell Community; and establish other initiatives to bring stimulation to the lives of our aged-care folk.
Their Aged-Care Support Lead Worker is supported by a small but growing team of volunteers to provide a variety of programmes at the rest homes, Cromwell Library, in people's homes and at the Anglican Church and Hall. The more people they have assisting, the more aged-care folk they can reach out to.
The St Andrew's Aged-Care Support Team run an afternoon programme to help stimulate the aged-care residents at Ripponburn Rest Home. This uses You Tube clips on a Big Screen, using a range of topics (eg. history of Cromwell and local surrounds, bios on various authors, and other topics that are of interest to residents) to stimulate discussion and create a social environment. Once a month a Circle Time discussion is offered, prompting the residents to share their life stories. This afternoon programme is also offered to the aged-care folk from the community at St Andrew's Anglican Church as they also have a big screen, the internet, heating and comfy chairs.
