Locations:

Queenstown

Space is a Parenting Place programme, we facilitate at The Salvation Army Queenstown.
We have babies attend our course from as little as one-month-old to around 8 months
You can find out a little more about Space on this link https://parentingplace.nz/courses/space

Space supports parents (mostly mums) and their babies through their first year and helps to build great relationships with other parents.
We meet weekly with the same class for around 20 weeks (two school terms) and during this time we discuss topics like sleep, attachment, brain development, and more with our trained facilitator.

Each week we also share a story, some songs, and some yummy food with our families and this is where we need your help!
We are looking for someone who can help in these areas

Requirements

We require someone who is:

  • Compassionate
  • Loves babies and doesn't mind potentially having some spill up on them
  • A knowledge of songs is helpful, but not needed as we provided a song sheet with music to go with
  • Experience with children is helpful, but not needed
  • Someone who can help with our morning tea/afternoon tea set up and clean up
  • Semi-able to move around and comfortably hold babies. We often sit on the floor during our session, we can provide you with a couch or chair.
We would recommend that you feel confident in holding a baby without the support needed
  • Completion of The Salvation Army Volunteer paperwork including a Police check

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment

Potentially 3 hours a week on a Tuesday

We run two Space classes on a Tuesday during the school term, so you can join us for the full day or only for half a day
