Street Appeal Area Coordinator

Every week in Aotearoa, three Kiwi families are told the heart-breaking news that their child has cancer. Child Cancer Foundation is dedicated to supporting them every step of the way, but they need your help.

The Street Appeal is their biggest fundraising event of the year, where hundreds of incredible volunteers take to the streets to collect the critical funds needed to support tamariki with cancer and their families. With no government funding, Child Cancer Foundation needs to raise $6 million a year to wrap essential care around Kiwi kids with cancer and their families. That’s why every dollar collected at their Street Appeal makes a difference.

You can help by becoming an Area Coordinator today. This is a fun and rewarding way to support families going through the toughest time of their lives. Every dollar you help collect will go towards caring for families impacted by childhood cancer.

As an Area Coordinator you will:

  • Co-ordinate a couple of sites or more depending on your availability and/or the size of your town.
  • Contact volunteers to confirm availability and location via phone or email in the lead up to the Street Appeal.
  • Liaise with service groups and other groups who have adopted a site (they will organise their own roster).
  • Deliver and pick up collection resources (buckets, stickers, bibs/sashes and instruction sheets).
  • Switch out full buckets during the day.
  • Be the local contact and coordinator on appeal days for the collection volunteers in your area.
  • Bank the money being collected.

Child Cancer Foundation will provide:

  • Full support throughout the Street Appeal.
  • Pre-allocated collection sites in your chosen area.
  • Rosters already complete with collection volunteers and their contact details.
  • All the resources you need to support your collection volunteers.

Requirements

  • An enthusiastic attitude and keen to help a local charity with their annual Street Appeal.
  • Have a valid NZ Drivers License, own road-worthy transport and a cellphone.

A Ministry of Justice background check is required for this role.

Time commitment

  • Availability for the full day on Friday 14th March and/or Saturday 15th March would be awesome - but a morning or afternoon can also work.
  • A few hours prior to the Street Appeal days to make contact with your collectors.
