The Moana Nui Festival celebrates the vibrant cultures and communities of the Pacific Islands. Pacific Trust Otago’s mission is to create a joyful and inclusive event that brings people together to enjoy music, food, and cultural performances.

As a Moana Nui Festival Feedback Champion you will:

  • Conduct brief interviews with festival attendees to gather their feedback.
  • You will ask key questions such as: "Is this your first time at the festival?", "How did you hear about the festival?", "What did you enjoy most about the festival?", and "What could we do better next time?".
  • Collect demographic information such as whether attendees are from out of town, their ethnicity, and age bracket.
  • Record responses accurately using provided forms and clipboards.
  • Work in pairs or small teams to cover different areas of the festival.

Training and support will be provided to ensure you feel confident in your role. You will learn effective interviewing techniques and active listening skills, and gain experience in event evaluation and data collection.

Requirements

  • Friendly and welcoming personality.
  • Good communication and active listening skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Comfortable approaching and speaking with festival attendees.
  • No specific physical requirements, but the role involves walking around the festival grounds.

Time commitment

Flexible shifts available during the festival on Saturday 29 March 2025 at the Forsyth Barr Stadium:

  • Morning Shift: 11am-2pm
  • Afternoon Shift: 2pm-5pm

There will be an information and training evening a week prior to the festival.

Volunteer South's office is closed from Friday 20th December until Monday January 6th. Many organisations listing roles online will also be taking a break.
