Treasurer

Oamaru Victorian Heritage Celebrations is an annual Otago event that attracts thousands of visitors to the district. The Celebrations hots and supports more than 100 events across the four days in November each year. This year’s theme is Oamaru Noir, Scoundrels, Secrets and Shadows.

The role involves

  • Budget preparation
  • Banking
  • Financial reporting and tax filing
  • Reconciliation
  • Gathering and analysing financial information
  • Financial record-keeping / oversight of bookkeeper
  • Understanding reporting requirements

The OVHC Committee coordinates and promotes Heritage Week, and runs some key events that are great fun to be involved with, including:

  • Garden Party
  • Grand Street Parade and Photo Opportunity
  • Heritage Bicycle Races
  • Fashion Show
  • Ceilidh

Requirements

  • Accounting or bookkeeping experience, ideally with charitable trusts or incorporated societies
  • Knowledge of and experience with Xero
  • Willingness to complete a police check
  • Some experience working with volunteer committees preferred
  • A passion for being part of a fun, creative community group

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment

Committee meetings are typically held monthly, with additional meetings as needed. Between meetings, committee members work on tasks they have agreed to as part of their role.
