Keep Alexandra Clyde Beautiful welcomes you to join them this autumn to help with their programme of planting to enhance local reserves for people’s enjoyment, and to feed/shelter our birds and lizards.

They have 5 planting projects this Autumn. Find a date that suits you.

🌿 Lanes Dam - Wednesday 21 May, 11am -1pm - planting 12 kowhai trees.

🌿 Heritage Orchard (on Rail Trail) - Wednesday 4 June 2025, 2-4pm - planting 4 new trees.

🌿 Alexandra Garden - (next to the monument) - Saturday 7 June 2025, 2-4pm - infill planting with 30 shrubs chosen for nectar and to attract birds, both native and exotic species including kowhais, blossom trees.

🌿 Shaky Bridge Reserve (just over Shaky Bridge) - Sunday 15 June, 1-3pm - this is their biggest planting of the year. Over 100 native plants to extend their previous 3 years of planting, going further up the gully. Afternoon tea by Eat Humble Pie.

🌿 Lookout Reserve (just over the Old Rail Bridge between Little Valley Road and Lookout Drive) - Sunday 22 June 1-3pm - KACB have been planting native plants here for the last 8 years. They are extending the tussock bank they did last year with a further 100 tussocks.

Requirements

  • No experience needed, an opportunity to learn from others.
  • Bring gardening gloves and your favourite hole digging, planting and weeding tools.
  • Tools available for use.

Time commitment

Working bees are for 2 hours. Some of the smaller ones may take less time.
