The Red Cross need an electrical appliance tester to support their Pathways to Settlement Programme in Dunedin. Electrical appliance tester volunteers make sure that donated appliances are electrically safe before they are included in homeware packs for refugee background families and individuals.
You'll be testing and tagging donated household appliances, making sure that low voltage single phase and polyphase electrical equipment is electrically safe. These are then provided to former refugee clients of our Pathways to Settlement service, which we provide in eight locations across the motu.
Your tasks:
-Test and tag donated electrical appliances
-Communicate regularly with our settlement team
Volunteers must have the knowledge and skills to undertake testing and tagging of electrical equipment. You do not need to be a registered electrical worker, however, you must be able to understand the WorkSafe standards that are in place.
This volunteer role requires 2 hours every month, at a time that suits you. The role will take place in Dunedin Central.
The first step is to express your interest by filling out the form below. We will then put you in touch directly with the organisation for more information on the role and how to proceed.
