Blind Low Vision NZ (BLV) supports people in Aotearoa living with blindness or significant vision loss to participate fully in community life. While many volunteers focus on sport and leisure activities, each community group requires accurate record keeping to continue their great work. Budgets must be presented annually to the regional BLV Community & Volunteer Coordinator. Timely and accurate budget submissions help ensure groups receive critical funding to keep their activities running.
The Treasurer role is vital in this process. This volunteer helps manage and balance budgets, keeping clear financial records to support the group’s ongoing activities.
If you are not the “tea towel hero” or a crafty or sporty person, you can still offer this essential skill to support the more hands-on volunteers and help keep activities thriving.
People who give their time at Blind Low Vision NZ make a huge difference to those who are blind, deafblind, or have low vision across Aotearoa New Zealand. There are many ways to get involved, whether weekly, monthly, or occasionally. Blind Low Vision NZ offers opportunities to suit different interests and makes great use of individual talents while helping people gain new experiences. However someone chooses to help, they are making a world of difference to someone.
A Police background check is required for this role.
Approximately one hour per week, potentially more when attending a committee meeting and at the end of the financial year when the annual budget round is due.
