Dunedin Midwinter Carnival Trustee

The Dunedin Midwinter Carnival Trust is seeking a new trustee to help guide and support one of Ōtepoti’s most iconic community celebrations. As a trustee, you will contribute to the governance and strategic direction of the Trust, ensuring that the vision, values, and long-term sustainability of the Carnival are upheld.

The role involves:

  • Supporting the vision, values, events, and projects of the Trust, with a focus on the Dunedin Midwinter Carnival.
  • Contributing to governance decisions that ensure the Carnival remains a vibrant, inclusive, and sustainable community event.
  • Bringing your skills, networks, and enthusiasm to help strengthen the Trust’s capacity to deliver high-quality events.

The Dunedin Midwinter Carnival Trust is a charitable organisation dedicated to celebrating Dunedin's unique environment, cultures, and seasons through creative, community-driven events. Their flagship event, the Midwinter Carnival, brings together artists, performers, and volunteers to create an enchanting experience for thousands of attendees. The Trust is committed to authenticity, sustainability, joyfulness, creativity, and community, aiming to produce events that are inclusive, environmentally responsible, and artistically vibrant.

Requirements

  • Passion for Dunedin, our environment, our people, cultures and creativity
  • Strong communication and co-operation skills
  • Strategic thinking
  • Any of the following: legal, management, HR, business, sales and marketing, negotiation skills, arts, culture, and community

Time commitment

Monthly board meetings (approx. 1.5 hours) plus additional responsibilities between meetings as required.
