The Rural Youth and Adult Literacy Trust (RYALT) is seeking a dedicated volunteer literacy coach in Gore to provide valuable support to an adult female student in need. You will meet at a local library or community centre for the lessons. As a Literacy Coach, you have the opportunity to give back and make a real difference in someone's life. It's a fulfilling and enjoyable role that allows you to share your love for learning while empowering others to reach their full potential.

RYALT welcome individuals with or without teaching experience, as they provide comprehensive training and ongoing support. Your enthusiasm, patience, and commitment are what matter most.

Requirements

  • Prefer someone with an educational background if possible.
  • Patience.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Excellent spoken English, reading and writing skills.
  • Must be fluent in English (verbal and written).
  • Reliable.
  • A friendly, empathetic personality.

RYALT will train you and give you all the support you need.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment

1-2 hours per week 30-45 min lessons once or twice a week in person at a public venue.
