IHC supports people with intellectual disabilities to live full and meaningful lives in the community. Enjoy sport, a good chat, and getting out and about? Spend time with an IHC friend in Mosgiel who loves bowling, RSA visits, and horse racing. A great way to share laughs and make a difference locally.
In this role you will:
- Be matched based on shared interests and hobbies
- Enjoy visits to the local RSA, going for walks, chatting over coffee, and talking about sport — especially horse racing
- Join in on indoor or outdoor bowling activities
- Be prepared to assist with a manual wheelchair, if necessary.

            Requirements
            
- A genuine interest in developing a friendship with a person with an intellectual disability
- Must meet the IHC volunteer recruitment requirements and be prepared to assist with a manual wheelchair, if necessary.
- Time to invest so that you can develop that friendship
- A desire to build on shared interests and hobbies
- A desire to be out and about in your community and to have fun
- You must be over the age of 17
- A police check is required: all IHC volunteers are also vetted every three years
- You must complete an orientation session and a training module on working with vulnerable adults
- You must have two referees who will confirm suitability
