The Whakatipu Reforestation Trust's mission is to restore the native biodiveristy of the Whakatipu Basin through revegetation projects, education, collaboration & advocacy. Since 2015, WRT volunteers have grown and planted over 135,000 native trees and shrubs around the Whakatipu Basin.
They welcome volunteers to help with native plant maintenance at any of their sites. There are a number of options and they can arrange something in the most convenient location to you.
Duties can include either light hand release of plants and fixing up plant protectors through to using a variety of tools if you have capability.
