Mōkihi  Reforestation Trust was formed by Cromwell locals in 2015, after initially being developed as an initiative of the Te Kakano Nursery and Restoration group in Wanaka. Their mission statement is:  To engage, motivate and educate the community in sustainable ecological restoration so as to enhance and restore Cromwell's indigenous ecosystem for now and future generations.

Volunteers are the heart of the Mōkihi Trust group! They welcome anyone interested in native habitat restoration to join them on Planting Days throughout the year.

Volunteer duties can include:

Help them rebuild native habitats one plant at a time, get your hands dirty and enjoy being out in the fresh air, all while making a difference!

As a volunteer, you will enjoy:

  • spending time out in the fresh air in a stunning setting
  • meeting new people who share your passion for the environment
  • contributing to enhance the local native biodiversity
