In-home Supporter

SupportLink is a community service that offers assistance to older people living in their own home. You can enhance their quality of living by helping them maintain their independence in a variety of ways.

You will build a meaningful relationship with the individual you support while assisting them with:

  • Transport to appointments - by own vehicle, client vehicle, or alternative transport means
  • Help with groceries or shopping
  • Regular friendship and companionship
  • Access to social activities
  • Access to coffee clubs with people of a similar age

You will receive one on one induction and ongoing support and training with this role. You will be required to report periodically about your progress in the role.

Requirements

This would suit someone who is:

  • Able to relate to older people in a warm caring manner.
  • A good listener
  • Who is accepting of different cultures, lifestyles and backgrounds
  • Able to maintain confidentiality

You are not required to provide a vehicle for these duties, but must be able to arrange your own transport to the individual's home.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment

1-3 hours per week for a minimum of 12 months. Your availability will be considered when matching you with a individual.
