Wānaka Backyard Trapping supports and coordinates initiatives to control pests which threaten native wildlife on QLDC, DOC and LINZ reserves. They also help educate the local community through newsletters, a public talk series and workshops.
They are entirely volunteer run and are seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Treasurer to join the team.
As Treasurer, you’ll play a key role in:
- managing their financial health
- ensuring transparency and accountability
- providing strategic input on budgeting and planning
Key activities and responsibilities:
- Be a part of the Executive Committee where they review strategy
- Go over the profit and loss each month
- Tracking expenses
- Ensuring they're properly coded
They only issue one or two invoices a month, so the workload is light!

Requirements
- Passionate about local conservation
- Financial operations are fairly simple, so basic bookkeeping experience is perfect
- While Xero experience would be helpful, it’s not essential - training will be provided
Time commitment
- Approximately 2 hours a week of admin - flexible in your own time
- One executive committee meeting per month, usually 1.5hrs
