Volunteer Opportunities – Ōamaru Heritage Celebrations The Ōamaru Heritage Celebrations team is seeking enthusiastic volunteers to support a variety of events from 13–16 November. All roles are carried out in a friendly team environment — no one will be working alone. Here are some of the ways you can get involved:
- Morning Tea With Mrs. B (Fri 14th) - Set up and decoration (Thu) + Clean Up (Fri)
- Victorian Garden Party (Fri 14th)- Set Up, Errands/Deliveries (on site or by car), Ticketing,
Photographer, Crowd Counter, Pack Up
- Grand Street Parade + Heritage Bicycle Champs (Sat 15th) - Road Marshalls (see more info
below), Crowd Counter, Photographer, Errands/Messages
- Victorian Fashion Show (Sat 15th) - Ticketing, Ushering, Door Monitor, Hall Clean-Up
- Dockside Dance The Rascals Ruckus Ceilidh (Sat 15th),
Lower Decks Dance (Sun 16th) - Ticketing, Errands/serve light refreshments, coffee/tea This
event is TBC depending on Kate and Micheals proposal
Road Marshals for Heritage Bicycle Champs (Sat 15th) They need 5 people to monitor the area of the
race circuit and remind spectators to stay safe, remain off the racing route. You will be briefed prior to
event start time.
As a volunteer you will receive:
- an induction and all necessary information for your role
- support from the events committee
- an attractive ribbon identifying you as a volunteer
- an invitation to the post-Celebrations thank-you event (a week or so after the Celebrations finish)
Requirements
Varies depending on the role
- 18+ for serving alcohol
- Some roles are more physical than others
- some roles are more front of house while others are more behind the scenes, let us know what you prefer
*some roles require period costume
- Training provided
Time commitment
Volunteers need to be available the weekend of the events from November 13 - 16.
