Volunteer to Be a Friend Online — Connect Over Coffee & Music

IHC is looking for a kind, friendly volunteer in the community who’s keen to build a real, lasting connection with someone online. This person is passionate about coffee culture — from brewing rituals to café banter — and finds joy in all sorts of creative outlets including singing, dancing and writing. Likes to go to the gym, spend time with family and meeting new people. They’re looking for someone to share stories, swap playlists, and enjoy relaxed weekly chats over a video call — someone who values friendship as much as they do.

You might be the perfect match if you:

• Love coffee culture — brewing, tasting, and chatting over a cup.
• Enjoy music, movies and the creative arts in its many forms.
• Are a good listener who values connection and kindness.

No special skills required — just your time, warmth, and willingness to connect. Build a genuine friendship, on Zoom chat at a time.

Requirements

• Volunteers must own or have access to a digital device and have basic skills in using digital platforms.
• Good communication - support and training will be provided.
• Be able to commit to 4 hours per month or more.
• Applicants 17 years old and over are welcome to apply.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment

• To begin with, you will spend 2-4 hrs over the course of a 2 weeks to complete your initial training and orientation, delivered online.
• Once you have connected with your friend, you can decide amongst yourselves what hours work best, and this may vary with each match.
• It is recommended that you spend at least 4 hours per month together, but understand that there is flexibility with this.
