The Rangatahi Led Fund is a by youth, for youth fund where youth committees (rōpū) provide grants to youth-led projects in the community. Each rōpū has $25,000 that it can distribute, up to $5,000 per project. Some projects that have been funded by the Rangatahi Led Fund include community murals, bike repair stations at schools, activity nights at youth centres, community events and kapa haka uniforms.
As part of the rōpū, you will:
- Design the fund's criteria and application process
- Connect with your community to spread the word about funding opportunities
- Review applications and decide which projects receive funding
- Attend 5 hui between February and July 2026
- Collaborate and engage with diverse perspectives and work alongside other passionate young leaders

Requirements
To be a rōpū member, you'll need to be:
- between 16 - 24 years old
- a team player
- confident contributing to discussions in a group setting
- able to commit to attending five hui between February - June 2026
- living in either the Central Otago, Upper Clutha or Waitaki areas
Time commitment
- 2 hour hui once a month, five hui in total between February-June 2026 .These will likely be on a weekday evening from 5pm - 7pm, either online or in person depending on the needs of the rōpū.
- Some volunteer time will be required outside of hui to help with advertising, and reading grant applications. This will likely be 5 - 10 hours total over the five months.
