IHC is looking for a friendly, easy-going volunteer who enjoys a good chat about life — from current affairs and the news to sport and everyday experiences.

This role is all about connection. You’ll be matched with someone who would value a weekly call.

They are looking for someone who:

  • Enjoys keeping up with the news, current events, or sport
  • Is comfortable having open, informal chats
  • Has a calm, reliable and kind nature
  • Can commit to a regular weekly catch-up
  • Values building genuine connection over time

This is a simple but meaningful way to make a difference — just by showing up, being yourself, and sharing conversation with someone via video or phone calls.

Requirements

  • Volunteers must be aged 18 years or over
  • Volunteers must have a digital device for enagement
  • Full training and ongoing support is provided by IHC
  • Police vetting and reference checks are required before volunteering
  • Volunteer matches are carefully made based on shared interests, location and availability.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment

  • 1 hour a week
  • One off training (4 hours)
