Phone Call Superstar (NZ-Based role)

This role requires you to make a courtesy phone call to determine whether different organisations would like information about the Rural Youth and Adult Literacy Trust (RYALT) services and to ensure RYALT have the correct contact information.

RYALT assist rural and isolated teenagers and adults improve their reading, writing and numeracy - so they need people like you to promote their services to various organisations around New Zealand.

This is not a sales role as you are not selling anything - you are simply helping to raise awareness about the work RYALT do and the opportunities they provide. It's all about people helping people improve their social, economic and family interactions through improved literacy outcomes. And your role in being a phone call superstar goes a long way to helping the trust get its services into different communities and organisations.

Calls can include ringing places like libraries, companies, and social assistance organisations to check if they would like more information on the trust's services. You can choose the type of call you prefer making. There is quite a variety of different options. There are also other volunteer roles that you can learn and participate in like referee checks, exit interviews and volunteer interviews.

All phone calls are made using an internet app (VOIP) from your home computer or mobile phone. You will need to enter comments into a spreadsheet. Hence, a computer and internet access are essential, but it won't cost you anything for the calls. Their Community Support Coordinator will help set you up and support you through the process, and you will be supplied a call script to work from.

By participating in this volunteering opportunity, you are helping achieve the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goal(s): Goal 4 – Quality Education
