E-Receptionist (Home Based)

Rural Youth and Adult Literacy Trust provide free reading and writing coaching for rural or isolated youth and adults around the country that don't have access to a main Literacy centre. This service is free, one on one and student centred.

They are looking for an E-Receptionist to play a crucial role in ensuring that all callers to the organisation have a positive and welcoming experience.

How it works:

  • Utilize the internet (VOIP) phone system to answer calls from anywhere using a mobile phone or computer with the correct settings.
  • Assist the busy staff by handling incoming calls, making callers feel at ease, engaging in friendly conversations, and gathering their details.
  • Efficiently input caller information and messages into our messaging system, Slack, or via email for further processing by the office team.

Your impact will be immediate as you will be a crucial link in ensuring that our callers, who may be nervous about reaching out, have a genuine and friendly first interaction with the organisation.

Requirements

Ideally, you are someone who:

  • Is proficient in using internet (VOIP) phone systems.
  • Has excellent communication skills and a friendly demeanor.
  • Has the ability to make callers feel comfortable and engage in pleasant conversations.
  • Is detail-oriented with the capacity to accurately record and relay information like contact numbers and emails
  • Has a level of familiarity with messaging systems, particularly Slack.

Time commitment

This role is flexible in the fact that you may receive between 1-5 calls per day so can do this volunteer role around your normal day to day activities. Up to 20 hours per week, if available.

They need people for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday shifts, either all day or 9am-1pm or 1pm-5pm.
