Wao Film Festival will be a four day event showing over 18 films and short documentaries based around sustainability, food resilience, climate action and many others. With this festival Wao hopes to educate, inspire and empower the community to make positive changes in their lives to impact the local and global environment.

There are multiple roles available for volunteers who are keen to help with these efforts. Whether you can help in one or many areas, they would love to hear from you. Not only is it an opportunity to apply and develop customer service, food and beverage, hosting and practical skills like eftpos sales, volunteers will have the opportunity to enjoy the films, and get an understanding of how film festival events are run.

Roles include:

  • Ticketing - Process eftpos and cash sales of single and multi-session film passes to the public. General customer service experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Scanners - Scan customer tickets using Humanitix app (to be downloaded to your phone). Have basic technical know-how to scan different types of passes. Training and info around this will be provided.
  • Food and Beverage Sales - Process food and beverage sales (eftpos and cash). General customer service experience a plus, but not required.
  • Host - A host will work across multiple roles. Would suit someone with natural leadership skills. Assist with any of the other roles mentioned above as and where needed, potentially introduce films and ask guests to be mindful of their environment.

Volunteers will:

  • Get free access to see some films, as long as you commit to a minimum of 3 hours of volunteering.
  • Receive any necessary training on the day, along with health and safety induction.

Please specify below in 'other information' which of the above roles you would be interested in.

Requirements

  • No prior experience is required.
  • As you will be a representative of Wao, please dress appropriately speak and maintain a respectful behaviour.
  • Ticket sales and food and beverage sales will be required to work with an eftpos machine. Some training will be provided.
  • Ticket scanners will be required to download the Humanitix for Hosts app on their phone to scan customers in.

Time commitment

  • Minimum 3 hour time commitment.
  • Once you sign up for a time, please remain committed to it.
  • It would be great if you could volunteer for more than 3 hours either in a single day or across the festival.
  • Full festival pass offered to those who volunteer for a minimum of 2x 3 hour sessions.
